Week 10

Man, we have had a crazy few weeks! Eric had two fellowship interviews in Nashville and Birmingham, so we found ourselves traveling more than half of the last two weeks. It was really fun, but REALLY exhausting, especially in the first trimester with a 2 year old.

Thankfully, outside of being super exhausted all the time, and having some "night sickness" (not throwing up or anything, just feeling nauseous and picky), I really have felt quite a bit better than my pregnancy with Samuel. I think. Maybe I'm just in denial, I don't know. Haha. I still can't stand the thought of hot coffee, which is a bummer.

I think the one funny thing about this pregnancy so far is how my cravings have been SO different than they were with Samuel. Before all I wanted to eat was pizza, ketchup, and anything tomato-based. This time, I'm all about the Mexican and Asian food. I seriously had Panda Express 2 or 3 times while we were in Nashville, and had Mexican 3/5 meals while in Birmingham. Everything else sounded gross.

The one unfortunate thing is that I've still been bleeding after I run. Thursday (two days ago), it was so bad I was sure I was miscarrying, but it faded pretty quickly (though I still have some even today). I've still been uber worried, so I have pretty much sworn off even light jogging until I hear that heartbeat again. It's kind of killing me. I'm SO active naturally and I feel like all I'm doing is sitting around and eating. But it's worth it if it means this baby is okay. 12 weeks cannot get here fast enough!

Anyway, I guess that's about all that's going on here in preggo-world. I keep spilling the beans despite my worries. I'm just ready for it to feel real, you know? I'm SO excited, but I hate this part of keeping it a secret and not being sure if everything is okay.

I know ultimately it isn't in my hands, though. All I can do is trust. <3

8 Weeks (tomorrow)!

So there is a 99% chance I will be way worse about blogging this pregnancy than I was with Samuel. Our only working computer is in the hot attic office and I have a 2 year old to manage now. So... yeah.

With that being said, Yay! We are almost to 8 weeks! At 7 weeks, baby is the size of a blueberry, and at 8 the size of a kidney bean, so that gives us a rough estimate of size anyway.

I've been so worried that something would go wrong this pregnancy (okay, let's be for real, I'm still a little paranoid) that I talked my doctor into giving me an early ultrasound this past week. To be fair, most of my friends that go to other practices get these routinely at 7-10 weeks, and I know for a fact that my insurance covers it.

SO, we got to go this past Tuesday at 7 weeks 2 days and see this sweet little pea's heart beating like crazy! (148 bpm!) It was already wiggling some and the little "amnio" thing that will become the placenta had already formed. It was amazing and I cried like a big nerd.

The best part was that Eric was able to meet me at the doctor's office and be there for it too. <3 My heart is so full!

Overall, things have been going pretty well this time around. I don't feel quite as bad nausea-wise as I did with Samuel, though I am incredibly tired. I've told Eric I pretty much feel like I'm operating at 50% all of the time.
I sleep 9-10 hours a night and sometimes take naps too.
I'm only working out 4 days a week or so (though I did run 7 1/2 SLOW miles this morning. It about killed me, but I think that counts for something!)
And I cry about the silliest things.
Oh, and TMI, but I'm also majorly constipated. THAT is the same as last time. Haha.
And pregnancy brain. Good grief, I'm forgetting everything. Like, sometimes I am in the middle of my sentence and forget what I'm saying.

I've also been way worse about spilling the beans. It was one thing when I was sitting at a desk all day, but now that I have things to do all day every day, sometimes it's easier to just explain why I'm a total zombie.

Cravings this time so far have included Moe's burritos (I NEED them) and ice cream.

I've also had a lots of crazy pregnancy dreams. The most memorable so far are:

1) When Amy Poehler tried to convince me I died for a "Truman Show" type TV show, then wanted me to star with Bill Cosby who started chasing me trying to give me rufees.

2) When an old man got mad at me at the gym for using "his" treadmill and retaliated by kidnapping Eric and demanding $50,000 in ransom money. I could only get $500 out of the ATM, but the police helped me rescue him.

I know there have been some other really wild ones, but those are the two that I still remember even though they were days/weeks ago.

Anyway, I'm praying things continue to go smoothly. I can't wait to tell Samuel he's going to be a big brother!!
